Join Lesbian Sex Mafia as we welcome Wikkid Jade, former Mid-Atlantic Leather Woman Bootblack, for an interesting workshop on bootblacking.
Bootblacking is the art of caring for leather apparel. This interactive class will demonstrate the basics on leather and its care, and the evolution of the Bootblack’s role in Leather Culture. This presentation is aimed toward those either new to the art or just curious! All expertise levels are welcome. Wikkid Jade will outline the steps involved in the proper cleaning, conditioning and/or shining of various types of leather, along with suggested products. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own items and supplies to work on, but it is not required.
Wikkid Jade received her first bootblacking lesson from girl Amelia in 2012 and continues to learn under the mentorship of Cherielle from Arizona. She has served as Bootblack at The Bike Stop and at events such as Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend, the Mr. & Ms. New Jersey Leather Contest, Philadelphia Leather Pride Night, TESFest, Fetish Flea Market, and the Master/slave Conference. She is the Bootblack coordinator for the quarterly Philadelphia Women’s Leather Bar Nights at the Bike Stop, and house Bootblack at the monthly Aviary play party in Philadelphia. In 2015 she competed for and received the Philadelphia Bootblack title. She held the title of Mid-Atlantic Leather Woman Bootblack 2017.
Jade’s work philosophy focuses on taking care of not just the leather or footwear, but the whole person. The job isn’t really done unless the customer is shining from within.
