We live and play in a diverse and evolving society, but sometimes the world doesn’t catch up to who we are. We run into questions or comments that are embarrassing, hurtful, or annoying. Bianca and EK will lead a facilitated discussion on topics that can be uncomfortable to approach regardless of where you fall in the age, race, gender, or gender presentation spectrum. This guided discussion includes scattered personal experiences, observed scenarios from various social media, and short exercises to magnify and explore the impact of differences among us with your participation encouraged. We created this safe space for all of us to grow and learn as a whole.
This is an ongoing conversation that participants can take with them and continue their own growth, in local groups and society at large.
Our Presenters:
Bianca is a fierce multi-racial queer-lesbian leatherwoman from Brooklyn. Lesbian Sex Chairwoman, and former Social Director and Co-Chair NYC March Committee where she bridged the local community together to support the organization’s return to reclaim leatherwomen’s space in the NYC Dyke and Pride March. She has been a part of several groups but has found her home at LSM.
EK lives and loves in New York City. She’s spent the last decade or two enjoying the scene, including a five-year stint on the board of the Lesbian Sex Mafia as well as co-chairing their 25th Anniversary event. EK has taught for the Leather Leadership conference, Dark Odyssey, and LSM. Additionally, she cofounded Passing Twice, a network for LGBTQ who stutter. EK is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private psychotherapy practice.
